Smeared & Smudged Skull Appreciation Day

I created a small assemblage piece for the Smeared & Smudged Skull Appreciation Day. The base is made from a large wooden spool, mini paper mache box and an antique wooden domino.

To make the skull on the domino, I first placed some tacky glue on the domino and then I placed a small piece of Crayola Model Magic to that and flattened it a bit. I let it set up for a couple of minutes and then I stamped into the clay with a rubber stamp from Hampton Art. The smaller skull is stamped onto a mosaic tile from the home improvement store with a stamp from Inkadinkado.

The sentiment says "He watches from an absent corner, oh so patiently waiting. Whoops...my apologies to Smeared Ink...it should say "He watches from an absent corner, waiting, oh so patiently". I messed up the order after I printed out the words and cut them apart ransom style. This sentiment is from the As Death digi set.

The assemblage is also embellished with black eyelash yarn and a piece of burlap.

I have as much fun photographing my creations as I do making them. I could not decide which I like best so I posted all three.

Thanks for stopping by...now please call on Julia for some more skully delights!

  10. Wendy, I adore your assemblage pieces! You are such a source of inspiration to me. I want to gather every found object I can find and see what I can make. I doubt I could find the bit of magic your pieces seem to have. The top pic is my overall favorite, but I like the other two as well as they enable me to see every little detail you've added to your work. Great job and Happy Skull Appreciation Day!!!
