 TUESDAY ALCHEMY
CHALLENGE #38
The Tuesday Alchemy Challenge this week is to create a project that is dark, gothic or spooky. Since Halloween is on Wednesday this should not be too hard.  Please check out the site for challenge rules and prizes.

I created this assemblage out of two wooden spools and a top from a triangular paper mache box. I painted all the pieces black before assembling. I cut a circle of black cardstock for the witch's hat brim. The three witches and spider web are cut from the Spooky Circles and Squares sheet from Gecko Galz. The assemblage is embellished with tinsel yarn, spider's web and a spider.

I hope you have been inspired to create something for the challenge. Please see what the other Tuesday Alchemy design team members have created for your inspiration.

Batty Halloween Card

I used a Dilly Bean digital stamp for this Halloween card. The image is called "winged monster". Check out the Dilly Bean site for more wonderful digital stamps!

I colored the image with MS Paint and added some chalks. I was following a color recipe at Forever Night (black, grey and orange) but thought it was a little too dull so, hence, he had a some purple accents added. The card is embellished with a piece of black mesh (recycled from a Halloween package of skeletons) and a torn purple fabric bow. I think he looks quite jaunty!

I am entering this card in the following challenges:

Full Moon Boo ATC

I am loving to make ATC's lately. It is a small space to fill so layouts are easy to do! I am a lazy crafter so I like "easy". I used an Octopode digital stamp from the Halloween Collage Sheet. Don't you just love this ghost trick-n-treater? I paper punched a moon out of design paper and rubber stamped a spider web on it with a stamp from Studio G. The bat is a clear stamp from Inkadinkado. The ATC is embellished with fabric (for texture), glitter and a purple sequin.

I am entering this ATC in the following challenges:

Craft Punked - Halloween

Happy Halloween Pumpkin Card

I created this card with two rubber stamps. The pumpkin is from Studio G and the sentiment is from Azadi Earles. I did a little paper piecing with the pumpkin steam and eyes and added a cricuit cut leaf. The card is embellished with a mini button and a googly eye.

TOP TIP - Paper piecing is an easy way to add some interest to your paper project. Whether you use a digital stamp or a rubber stamp, you can use this easy technique. I stamped my pumpkin on a designed piece of paper but wanted his eyes to be a solid color so I paper pieced. You simply stamp a second image on the paper you want to use, cut out the shape and place over the top of your base image. Easy Peasy!

I am entering this card in the following challenges:

Catch the Bug - Bingo (paper piecing, sentiment, button)
Vintage Stamping - #1 anything goes

Autumn ATC

I created this Autumn ATC to celebrate the beautiful Fall day we are having in New York today. The temperature is 60 degrees and the sun is shining brightly. All around me I hear the sounds of people raking their leaves.

I'm not sure where my sentiment came from. When I first started collecting digital stamps, I did not always note where they came from. If you recognize this, please let me know so I can give credit to the designer. The pumpkin template is from The Bellow's Family site.

My ATC is embellished with a brightly colored fabric bow and some glitter.

Coffin Shaped Card

I found this free coffin shaped card template on photobucket. The mummy girl is a digital stamp from Just Some Lines. The "BOO" is from Gecko Galz. This was an easy image to color (just the type I like). I colored her face and hair with MS Paint and then just chalked in the shadows and grunge on her costume. The card is embellished with some abaca netting and a colorful fabric bow. So much fun!

I am entering this card in the following Halloween Challenges:

Halloween Assemblage

I created this assemblage piece with a wooden spool and the cap off my laundry detergent, lol! I emptied the bottle on Sunday and thought it would be fun to use the orange cap for something Halloween. The witch is from a Gecko Galz collage sheet called Spooky Dominos. The piece is embellished with three purple rhinestones, black tulle and purple fringe.

TOP TIP - My image was from a rectangular shaped domino sized graphic. I did not want to use the rectangular shape so I cut out the part of the image I wanted to craft with. Always look at an image to see the other ways you can possibly use it.

Poe Graveyard Card

I was trying to find something with squares for the challenge on the Octopode Factory and found this old orange Bingo card in my paper stash. I stamped on the graveyard scene and ravens with clear rubbers stamps from Inkadinkado.

I bought the Spooky Dominos collage sheet from Gecko Galz recently and have been having fun using the images. My Poe image is a 1" square I cut from the domino sheet. Gecko Galz is having a Halloween Blog Hop on October 26-28. Click on the badge for more information.

Chesire Cat Fat Page

I created this fat page with a digital collage image from the Octopode Factory. The bat is a rubber stamp from the Tim Holtz Halloween Blueprint collection. The card is embellished with a small patch of fabric on the tattered kitty, some googly eyes and lots of glitter.  I used a quote from the Altered Alice Challenge Blog for an inspiration for my piece. It goes like this~
"...it was at the great concert given by the Queen of Hearts, and I had to sing "Twinkle, twinkle, little bat! How I wonder what you're at!"You know the song, perhaps?'
`I've heard something like it,' said Alice.
`It goes on, you know,' the Hatter continued, `in this way:-- "Up above the world you fly,Like a tea-tray in the sky.Twinkle, twinkle--"'

Witchy ATC

I had fun making this ATC...I bought some Halloween inchies from Gecko Galz, printed them up, cut them out and then went to town creating with them. Gecko Galz has a blog hop coming up on October 26th! Click on the badge for more information.

I used two clear rubber stamps on this ATC. The witches legs are from Studio G and the "Trick or Treat" is from Inkadinkado. The ATC is grunged up with black chalk, a seed bead was added for the spider's body and the lacy black tulle reminded me of fishnet stockings that our pin-up witch is probably wearing, lol!

I am entering this fun ATC in the following challenges:

Tuesday Alchemy DT - #37

TUESDAY ALCHEMY
CHALLENGE #37

The Tuesday Alchemy Challenge this week is to create a project using a random word...and the random words are bath, duct tape and sparrow. Please check out the site for challenge rules and prizes.

For my DT piece this challenge, I created a tile pendant. I used a vintage image from the Graphics Fairy. The site is a bounty of free images for crafters to use. Check it out!

The tile is from the home improvement store. It came on a 12X12 piece of rectangular white and black square tiles. I don't know if is meant for walls or floors. The tiles are about the size of a domino and work wonderfully for jewelry.

After sizing and printing the image on presentation paper, I applied two coats of varnish with a sponge. Once dry, I pressed the paper onto two sided tacky paper and then cut out the size I needed to fit my tile. I then exposed the tacky side and carefully placed my image onto the tile. I used a bone folder to press all the edges down. I added some seed beads for dimension and interest.

Luckily I had a piece of DP that worked perfectly to display the song sparrow pendant. I hope you have been inspired to choose one the of the random words and get busy creating.

I am entering this pendant in the following challenges:

Inky Impressions - #81 no cards
DYSU - #94 vintage

Batty Wonderland

I created this 4x4 fat page with an Alice digital stamp from Squigglefly. The bats are from the Graphics Fairy. I wanted to create my own background for the challenge on Stampotique so I paper punched squares out of a damaged book and used water color crayons around the edges. I used paper punched squares of aluminum sticky back tape for the mirrors behind the bats. I added some black glitter to the bat's wings, a rhinestone to Alice's headband and a fabric bow to embellish the fat page.

I based my piece on the inspiration quote on the Altered Alice " ...it was at the great concert given by the Queen of Hearts, and I had to sing "Twinkle, twinkle, little bat!

Vintage Elusions DT Fat Page

VINTAGE ELUSIONS
CHALLENGE 12

The challenge this week at Vintage Elusions is to add some lace to your paper project or as always Anything Goes.

I decided to make a 4x4 fat page for my DT submission. I used a digital stamp by Smudgetastic. They along with The Dragon's Lair and Mark's Finest Papers are sponsors this week. Check out the site for rules and prizes.

I colored my image with colored pencils and then went over the pencil with chalks to do some blending. I wanted to grunge up this vamp so I used a lot of black chalk around the edges of my image and background. I did not have any black lace, so I painted some white lace black. I added the lace to her hat band and gave her a lace choker necklace. I added the words "want to play" and a resin flower to complete the look.

I hope you will be inspired to pull out your supplies and create a paper project for Vintage Elusions this week. Visit the site and see what the other Design Team Members have created for your inspiration.

The stamps are called Arty Doodles and they are very cute. Gecko Galz also has a Halloween Blog Hop coming up on October 26th. Click on badge for more information.

I printed the digital stamp out on design paper and cut it out. I  drybrushed gold metallic paint over the pumpkin to give it some glitz. I stamped the words "happy harvest" with a Studio G clear stamp and outlined the tag with black paint dots. I added a fabric bow to blend the purple and orange colors. Sorry for the poor photos I am posting early in morning.

The card is embellished with abaca ribbon for texture, two green gems for a little sparkle and three orange buttons for pizazz.

I hope you will be inspired to create something with these fun colors and submit it to the Little Miss Muffet Challenge.

Poe Tag

Poe Tag
I made this shaped tag with Smeared Ink digis from the Quoth the Raven set. I love that set and have used it repeatedly. It is one of my Smeared Ink favorites. Check out the store for some great digital stamp designs.

I printed the raven out on a piece of design paper and then carefully lined it up on my cricut machine to cut out the shape. Three tries later and I got it! The tag is embellished with an iridescent seed bead, tulle, black feather, metal washer and some blood. Haha, not real blood...I mixed tacky glue with red paint.

TOP TIP - Mixing paint with thick tacky glue will give you a raised and bumpy texture. Mixed with white paint and a little glitter and you could make your own snow. An easy trick to add some texture to paint.

I am entering this tag in the following challenges:

Quoth the Raven - anything Poe
Creative Card Crew - #21 birds
Top Tip Tuesday - things with wings
Crafty Creations - #191 photo inspiration

Card with Ephemera

Vintage Elusions - Challenge 11

The Challenge this week at Vintage Elusions is to create a piece of art that you have added some ephemera to or "anything goes". I was not sure what ephemera was so I looked up the definition onWikipedia.

Ephemera (singular: ephemeron) is any transitory written and printed matter not intended to be retained or preserved. The word derives from the Greek, meaning things lasting no more than a day. Some collectible ephemera are advertising trade cards, airsickness bags, bookmarks, catalogues, greeting cards, letters, pamphlets, postcards, posters, prospectuses, stock certificates, tickets and zines. Decks of personality identification playing cards from the war in Iraq are a somewhat recent example.

TOP TIP: As a Design Team Member I created a card using a cover from a history booklet I found on The Graphics Fairy. Go to the Graphics Fairy site and click on search. There is a category called ephemera with lots of choices. This will be come a favorite site for paper crafting.

closeup of Delicious Doodle image - Fallen
I used an image called Fallen from Delicious Doodles for my card. I colored the image with chalks and colored pencils. The fairy is nestled on a twig that I wrapped with eyelash yarn. The twig is attached with washi tape. I also stuck in a feather.  I like the mix of vintage and goth that I got with this card. Two of my favorite themes for paper crafting.

I hope you will be inspired to join the fun at Vintage Elusions this week. If you want to push the boundaries, use some ephemera on your project or "anything goes" is always an option. You can win some wonderful prizes from this week's sponsors: Sassy Studio Designs, Delicious Doodles and Robyn's Fetish.

I am entering this card in the following challenges:

Creative Card Crew - #21 birds
Creative Craft Challenge II - fantasy
Top Tip Tuesday - #87 things with wings
Crafts and Me - #105 anything goes
Pixie Dust - fantasy

Get busy crafting!

Happy Birthday ATC

ATC
I created this ATC with a free birdie image from A Day for Daisies.  I colored the image with MS Paint and then chalked the bird's belly with dark blue and purple. I used my Cricut cutter and paper punches to cut out the paper elements for the ATC.

Top Tip - Paper piecing is an easy way to add a design or some interest to your image. Print your image out twice and cut pieces out of one image to place on your base design. Easy peasy!!!

I paper pieced and used a bit of foam on the birdies wing to give it some added interest and some "pop".

I am entering this ATC in the following challenges:

Wicked Wednesday - ATC for birthday
A Day for Daisies - #55 pop it up
ATC's with Attitude -#24 anything goes
Creative Card Crew - #21 birds
Top Tip Tuesday - #87 things with wings
Simon Says - dies + punches

I hope you will give paper piecing a try. Please check out the above listed sites and leave comments for the Design Team members.

Spider Jar

mixed media jar

I made this fun mixed media piece with images from Retro Cafe. If you go to their gallery site you can still pick up the free collage sheet and enter the challenge by the 19th. I used an inkadindado clear rubber stamp for the spider on the poison label. The baby food jar is enhanced with a scrap of ruffle yarn and two purple pompoms from some pompom yarn. Inside the jar are stones, a stick wrapped with web and the poisonous spider, lol!

I hope you will download the collage sheet and get creative with it.

Fat Page - I Spit Roses

Fat Page
I created this fun fat page with an image from Rick St. Dennis. It is called Euro Boy with Boat. The roses are from a free Smeared Ink image. The Rock n Rolla challenge on Smeared and Smudged this month is to create a piece of art from the Peter Murphy song "I spit roses". The music video is full of great graphics and the music is good too. Check it out!

I colored my image with MS Paint and then touched up with some chalks. I created the background with two designs ripped out of a magazine.  I added a lot of glitter and glitz. Even the sand has glitter in it, lol!

Halloween Treat Bag

Candy Corn Treats
This treat bag topper was created with a digital stamp called worried skellie from Dilly Beans Stamps. I printed the design on scrapbook paper and on plain paper. I colored the skellie's face green and paper pieced it on top of the base image. The heart is also paper pieced. I folded the image in half and the cut out around the skellie's head. The topper was then stapled to the treat bag. The topper is embellished with lots of glitter to give it some sparkle and shine.

I am entering this treat bag in the following challenges:

Frankie's Bride Bookmark

Frankie's Bride Bookmark
I created this bookmark with a digital stamp called Frankies Bride by the Octopode Factory. I love the whimsical and uniqueness of Lily's designs. I colored the image with MS Paint and added a little chalk to her hair and eyes. The bookmark is embellished with three rusty hardware pieces. It looks like Frankie's Bride may be coming unhinged. I added glitter and seed beads to add some sparkle and shine.
