Full Moon Witching Hour

full moon madness card

This card was created with a free digital stamp from Creepie Cute Stamps. I colored the image with MS Paint and added shadows with chalk. Using the recipe "strange brew" provided by Haunted Design House, I layered and added metal bits, black pearls and ribbons. The moon was punched from orange scrapbook paper with a 2 3/4" punch. To add some distressing, I crumpled the moon and ripped the edges of my background paper.

I am entering this card in the following challenges:

Smudgy Antics - full moon madness
Haunted Design House - #139 recipe
Simon Says Stamp and Show - depth of distress
Forever Night - #41 feeling witchy
Paper Make Up Stamps - #42 anything goes
Clear it Out Challenge - anything goes + more than one ribbon
Paper Playtime - #77 anything goes + sentiment
Tammy's Scrapin Corner - anything goes
Charisma Cardz - #25 anything goes

There is impressive artwork displayed on the above listed sites. Take a minute and look around. You will be glad you did!

Steampunk Lady Brooch

laminated brooch

This vintage steampunk woman brooch was made with an altered Alphonse Mucha image from The Sum of All Crafts. She is very unique. Her collar and dress are bedecked in wheels, cogs and other steampunk bits and pieces. The image is very detailed. The design was printed on light pink paper and shaded around the edges with a darker pink chalk. The finished design was heat laminated with 7 ml. lamination film. The brooch is durable and water resistant.

The Lady Mucha Brooch is a 1.75" circle. The pin is embellished with a silver/gray pearl. An adhesive pinback is firmly attached to the back.

You can make your own laminated brooches from almost any design you choose. If you do not have a heat lamination machine, you could sandwich your design between two pieces of contact paper or cold lamination sheets.

This beautiful brooch is available in my Etsy Shop.

Bobby Pins - Upcycled Anthropologie Catalog

These paper bead bobby pins were created from an upcycled Anthropologie catalog page. You can see a tiger face in one of the beads. Another bead has yellow and black stripes. The third design is an abstract floral design. The hair pins are colorful and unique. If you like one of a kind hair accessories, these are the bobbies for you.

The paper bead is 2" long. It is varnished to help resist moisture. It can be used in wet hair and can be worn in the rain but it will not withstand being immersed in water. You apply the bobby pin to your hair the same way you would an unadorned hair pin. You can wear one, two at a time or all of them at once. It's up to you. Have fun!!!

You can make a set of bobby pins for yourself with my tutorial. Or, these colorful Anthropologie inspired bobbies are available in my Etsy Store.

Tea Bag Favor

Tea Bag Holder

I created this favor for the "Junk Funk" Challenge on Smeared and Smudged. The challenge was to use a tea bag in your creation. I used tea to stain my tag and created a tea bag holder out of paper.

I took a strip of paper that was 7" by 2.5" and folded it twice to create a match book. The heart digital stamp is from Smeared Ink. I colored the heart with red chalk and a red colored pencil.

I am entering this favor in the following challenges:

Forever Night - #39 anything goes
Robyn's Fetish - #112 anything goes
Crafty Cardmakers - #70 no cards, tags or ATC's
Paper Playtime - #77 anything goes with sentiment

I created this card for the "Oh, The Horror" challenge on Smeared and Smudged. You had to create an art piece that was based on the poster for the movie "The Prophecy".

Skeleton Girl Card

Card

I love this image. The skeleton girl image was a freebie from Beccy's Place. The site has a lot of really great digital stamps. Check it out!

I colored my image with chalks and colored pencils. I added some glitter and a purple gem to give the card some "sparkle".

Tip: Chalks are an easy way to color in a design. You don't have to worry about smearing the ink from your printer and if you make a mistake, you can easily erase it. I use eye make-up applicators to apply my chalks.

I am entering this card in the following challenges:

Haunted Design House - color challenge #137
Top Tip Tuesday - #78 sparkles
Simon Says Stamp & Show - Anything goes
Poisoned Peas - goth or emo
The Paper Shelter - #68 Anything goes
Craft Your Passion - #114 Anything goes
ATC's with Attitude - #16 Anything goes
Fat Pages with Attitude - #16 Anything goes
Stamping with Dragon - Anything goes

Somebody That I Used to Know

Card based on song by Gotye

I created this card for the June Rock n Rolla Challenge on Smeared and Smudged. The challenge was to use the song "Somebody that I used to know" by Gotye as an inspiration for an art piece. If you haven't heard the song or seen  the video yet, it can be found on the S&S website.

The background of my card is a grate from the "Quoth the Raven" digital stamp collection by Smeared Ink. The girl image is from the "Haunted Reverie" collage sheet from Moonlight Journey.

A heart charm and some tulle were added to give the card some texture and dimension. The words I added are from the lyrics of the song. The words say " now you're somebody that I used to know".

I am also entering this card in the following challenges:

Simon Says Stamp and Show - Anything goes
Poisoned Peas - #4 Goth or Emo
The Paper Shelter - #68 Anything goes
Art with no boundaries - Anything Goes + Heavy Metal
Craft your Passion - #114 Anything Goes
Crafty Creations - #174 add a charm

There is some great artwork on display on the above listed sites. Check them out and you will be impressed.

Old Skool Tattoo Card

6 x 6 Card

I created this card with a sketch from Smeared & Smudged . Using the desired layout, I layered coordinating scrapbook papers to create my card background.

My skull tattoo image is a digi from Smeared Ink. I colored the image with MS Paint and chalks. To give the card texture I added a piece of white fabric trim and pleated one of the background papers. All the paper layers and the fabric bow also add texture and depth to the project. I added some "sparkle" with glitter and red gemstones.

Top Tip Tuesday TIP: You can add some texture and dimension to your project by pleating paper.

I hope you like my card. I am entering it in the following challenges:

Bunny Zoe's - #24 anything goes
Corrosive Challenge - #150 not too shabby
Top Tip Tuesday - #78 Sparkles + Tip
Smudgy Antics - Anything Goes
Simon Says Stamp and Show - show texture

Please check out the beautiful artwork by the DT on these sites and the projects submitted. You may be inspired to try a challenge yourself!

 Photobucket

It's finally here - The Smeared and Smudged Skull Appreciation Day Blog Hop!

This is my first blog hop so I hope I do this correctly!!! I love creating collages the old fashioned way with scissors, glue and paper scraps. Lately, I have been obsessed with using skulls in my artwork. Luckily for me, other people feel the same way. Hence, this great blog hop.

I created some family heirloom jewels for this skelly hop.

Pendant Necklace and Cameo Brooch

To create a pendant and brooch you will need to:

One:

Cut or punch six oval shapes from thick paper. I used an oval paper punch that measures 2" x 1/5" and a page from a damaged hardcover book for my paper source.

Two:

Cut one shape out of colorful scrapbook paper. This will be your background paper. I used part of a digital stamp called "Plague of Death" from Smeared Ink for my cameo design. I printed the design on scrapbook paper and cut out the center skull design with scissors. Glue your design onto the background paper.

Three:

Stack your oval shapes. Glue the bottom two shapes completely together. Add the next four shapes but only glue in the center of the shapes. We are not trying to make chipboard. You want your pendant/brooch to be textural and pliable.

Four:

Glue your colored design completely to the top of your stack.

Five:

Varnish the front and back of your pendant/brooch. If you have an inkjet printer, beware that your ink may smear if you are not careful. This happened on the necklace but I liked the "grungy" look so I left it.

Six:

Finish your jewels with embellishments and hardware.

Wear your skully creations with pride.
