I used a large index card as the base for this mixed media art. The background is a page torn from an old and damaged dictionary. The project is layered with a reverse diecut scrap, a scrap from design paper, rubber stamped pinecones, word sticker and a fussy cut mushroom head woman from Etsy.

Day of the Dead - Mixed Media Art

 

I used a large index card to create this mixed media piece. I doodled with markers that were drying up to create a background. Paints include water colors, Ranger splatters, and tempera sticks. Paper scraps were layered for texture. A yarn scrap was stapled on for a burst of color. The Edgar Allan Poe skellie is from Etsy.

Day of the Dead - Mixed Media Art

This mixed media piece started on a blank index card. Paper scraps were used to create a background (including paper from a book). The Day of the Dead woman is from Conjurer of Dreams Etsy Shop. I fussy cut around the image and used her for the focal of this piece. Color was added with coffee stains, distress sprays and distress ink. The piece is embellished with a snippet of black lace yarn and a Metallic look skeleton key.
